The administration of Bayero University Kano,which comprised BUK Emergency Ventilator Team has built up a model ventilator machine in its endeavors at battling COVID-19 pandemic.
The privately created ventilator has the limit of working in two modes.
As per administrator of BUK Emergency Ventilator Team, Prof. Ibrahim Abdullahi of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the thought behind the creation was for the college to contribute its amount in the battle against COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that because of the present COVID-19 pandemic, the University saw the need to contribute to the battle against the novel coronavirus.
“The ventilator works in two modes. In mode one, the ventilator breezes for the patients. In mode two, the ventilator supplements the floating for the patients.”
He included that the ventilator likewise has a controller that manages floating as indicated by the patient’s necessity.
He however revealed that the cost of delivering one ventilator is about N500,000 therefore prompting locally made accessible materials and locally made innovations
He said BUK is making arrangements for mass and business creation of the ventilator, including “in the subsequent stage, we will deliver and test for creatures. What we have now is the model.
He noted that arrangements are being made to draw in organizations so we can go into large scale manufacturing. For the time being, as a college, we produce in clumps. We will before long join forces with organizations for business creation.”
